Towards a future where we live in harmony with the forest: Why not join us in this endeavor with Kiso?
The forests of Kiso have been protected alongside people's lives since ancient times. The rich forests spreading at the foot of Mount Ontake provide blessings such as water and timber, supporting Japan's architectural and forestry culture. The forest resources, exemplified by Kiso cypress, are known as one of Japan's three most beautiful forests, and are a precious natural area that has been protected through the wisdom and efforts of people over a long history.
However, the environment surrounding forestry has changed dramatically in recent years. With a shortage of forest workers and challenges in management, the relationship between forests and people is now in need of a new form. In this situation, it is important to re-examine the value of the forests of Kiso and pass it on to the next generation.
The Kiso Forest Project aims to widely disseminate information about the region's forest culture and forestry practices, and to build a new relationship between forests and people. The main goal of this project is to protect the forest while utilizing its blessings, and to connect it with local life and culture.
To know the forest, to feel the forest, to live in harmony with the forest.
The forests of Kiso will continue to be an important part of supporting people's lives. Through this project, we will pass on the value and charm of the Kiso forests to future generations.
